The church leaders recently announced plans to build a 25-meter high cathedral constructed with 104 tubes of cardboard. The structure will be a temporary replacement for the iconic ChristChurch Cathedral, which was ruined last year in an earthquake. 這個構想聽起來或許有點輕浮隨便，不過受地震重創的基督城市聖公會領袖卻認為，新的厚紙板大教堂不但能暫時應急，更能象徵城市的復甦。

教會領袖最近宣佈，他們將以一百零四捲厚紙板建造一座廿五公尺高的大教堂。該建築將暫時取代去年在地震中被摧毀的城市地標基督城大教堂。這間臨時教堂可容納七百人，並且能夠使用十年。
